I have always wanted to make pizza on the grill. I have to admit I was a little nervous to throw the dough right onto the grill. I kept envisioning the dough falling down through the grates and making a huge mess. Thankfully that didn’t happen! Whew!
Now I am wondering why I didn’t try this sooner. It was so easy and oh so yummy!
Before adding veggies and garlic to the pizza, I like to roast them in the oven with some olive oil, salt and pepper. Roast at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes. I like to put the sliced veggies right on the grill while I’m grilling the dough.
Ingredients
- 1 package of dough, I used whole wheat found in the freezer section
- Tomato sauce
- Any toppings you like, I used:
- tomatoes, red onion
- roasted garlic
- red pepper
- fresh mozzarella and parmesan cheeses
- fresh basil
- oregano.
Directions
- Pre heat grill over medium to high heat.
- Let dough come to room temperature. Roll out to desired thickness. Brush one side with olive oil.
- Carefully place oiled side of dough onto the hot grill. Brush olive oil onto other side of dough.
- Grill for about 3 minutes and flip. Cook for another 3 minutes or until nice grill marks show.
- Remove from grill and add toppings. Place back grill for a few minutes with cover closed so the cheese melts.
