I know, I know, these probably aren’t the most healthiest snack to eat, but sometimes you gotta have a mozzarella stick. I am a sucker for mozzarella sticks! So it makes me happy when I can find a way to lighten up a favorite snack.
I promise you won’t miss the deep fried version of this recipe. They are that good!!!
These can easily be made ahead and kept frozen, then heated up for a quick snack. Be sure to serve them immediately so the cheese stays melted. Your family is going to love them!

Ingredients
- 12 string cheese sticks
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 4 tablespoons Italian bread crumbs
- 4 tablespoons Panko
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Cut cheese sticks in half and place in the freezer until cheese is frozen. This step is important so the cheese doesn't melt all over the place while baking.
- In a small bowl whisk the egg. In another bowl add the flour. And in a third bowl add breadcrumbs, panko, and Italian seasonings.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line baking sheet with foil and lightly spray with cooking spray. Set aside.
- Dip frozen cheese sticks in flour, shaking of excess, then dip into the egg, and then dip into bread crumbs.
- Repeat with the rest of the cheese sticks. Place on baking sheet and lightly spray tops of mozzarella sticks with cooking spray.
- Bake in the bottom third of the oven for 4-5 minutes. Turn and bake for an additional 4-5 minutes. Watch closely so they don't melt.
- Serve with your favorite marinara sauce.
