I have made lots of hummus in my life, but could never figure out how to get that super creamy stuff you get at the store. I found the secret. Squeeze the skins off of those little buggers. It is kind of a pain, but totally worth it. The texture is so creamy, you’ll be glad you did!
This is a pretty basic hummus recipe. You can get creative and easily add any of your favorites to it. I am thinking roasted peppers, or sun dried tomatoes, or chopped up olives, or how about artichokes… Ok I’ll stop now 🙂 Serve with veggies, pita chips, or on a sandwich.
Recipe from Pinch of Yum
Ingredients
- 2 cans chickpeas
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2-3 tablespoons olive oil
- About 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin (optional)
Directions
- Gently pinch chick peas to remove the skins. Discard skins and add chick peas to a food processor or blender.
- Add the garlic, olive oil, 1/4 cup of water, salt and cumin. Puree until smooth adding water slowly until nice and creamy, about 3 minutes. You can also add a little more olive to make it creamier.
Enjoy!
